Best settings for DVD back-up

lets say that i want to do a 1 CD back-up of a 2h movie with MPEG1 (and MPEG2). What are the best settings for doing it (and the matrix)? Its a 640x272.
I repeat, both MPEG1 & 2 (for doing a comparision of how evolved video compresion in almost 20 years) because i`ll include a MPEG4 ASP & a H.264 compressed files.
