View Full Version : Playback re-cueing?

I don't know if re-cueing is the right term, but when I play a DVD +R that I've burnt using DVDShrink/DVD Decrypter, after about 20 min of playing, it will jump back to a previous chapter. The only way around this is to pause & step through until the jump point is passed. What would be causing this? I'm using a Sony DRU-710A with flashed firmware.

Sounds like a media problem. Have you checked for compatibility?

You might also like to burn at lower speeds (4X max) and verify the burn. Afterwards, do a scandisk in Nero CD-DVD Speed (free at http://www.cdspeed2000.com/). Check for both bad sectors and CRC mismatches.

One other thing: Check for fingerprints on the media. You'd be surprised how this can screw up a disk's playback.

As the problem isn't with all burns. I'm using Ricoh 8x discs, and aside from the mentioned prob, the movies play fine. I always check for marks & stuff on the discs, so I know it's not that but the effect is the same. Just wondering whether its the pen I'm using to label the discs? I used a different pen yesterday and appears to be no problem (but I don't want to make a rash call just yet...)
