Using NuEnc in DVD-RB = bad parameter?

It was my understanding that NuEnc could be used in DVD-RB by simply renaming the NuEnc.exe to QuEnc.exe then pointing DVD-RB to it. However when I try encoding with it I get a "bad parameter" popup in DVD-RB but real QuEnc will work.

NuEnc can be used this way correct?

The NuEnc command line parameters are different from QuEnc, and this is something I would like to see changed in one of the next NuEnc versions. (Example: number of vbr passes in QuEnc is set by "-n" while NuEnc only understands "-passes:n").

For libavcodec based encoders QuEnc has become kind of the de facto standard (DVDRebuilder and DVD2SVCD support QuEnc), so I feel that all libavcodec based encoders should adhere to that "standard". FreeEnc does a very good job here. This does not mean any restriction for the encoder, it should just ignore parameters it does not understand (instead of quitting with a "bad parameter" error) and use the settings from a template file or the registry instead.

No longer true! I just uploaded a small utility that makes NuEnc compatible with QuEnc. Have a look at the NuEnc thread...
