AVC encoder can be taken as reference for making comparation other encoders like Divx or Xvid. AVC is still in development too and there isn't any stability and full functional relase.I'm waiting for h.264 MainConcept official relase.

Huh? Man, you (or DigitAl56K) should look around more thoroughly, the "new A/V formats - codecs" forum is basicly overloaded with discussions about the AVC codecs, there is the Nero AVC codec, which is nothing less than a fully functional and stabile H.264 codec with excellent quality (it's the winner of Doom9's latest codec shoot-out), and it's already available since a few months. And there is x264 too, which is quickly approaching to the point where it can be a serious player in the video-encoding scene.

Yes the codec is stabile, but I don't know wchih profile it offers:
Main, Baseline or other? In Mainconcept H.264 beta relase I found totally different setings and they (in my opinion)were more typical for H.264 standard. I know many about encoding especially Mpeg2 and now I'm interested about AVC because it'll be used in HD-DVD standard.
Dvd authoring is my job.
