I know its completely off topic but I didn't know where else I could find the answer to this. I've always had this program and have never used it but was told it can make an image of my hard drive in case my computer crashes or if I ever wanted to format my harddrive, as I don't have any original disks as a computer buddy of mine built it for me etc etc. The program, before I forget, is Alcohol 120%. Can someone give me some direction as to how I would make an image of my hard drive and burn it onto a dvd-r so I can keep it just incase I ever get a virus or lose my shit somehow!?
thanx.

no offence but if you have commercial software such as alcohol installed i assume you did pay for it and its not just something your buddy installed. as such you should know what it is and what it can and can not do.
alcohol is a cd/dvd copying/burning program so i dont see how it can backup a hard drive. looking at its webpage it says nothing about doing that.
a couple of free solutions to hard drive backup are
http://www.majorgeeks.com/download3914.html
http://www.partition-saving.com/
i have not tested either so can not say how good they are.
there are heaps of commercial/shareware programs aswell, such as ghost and nti backup now and paragon drive backup etc. way to many to list here.

none taken, I didn't pay for it no, he just threw it on there for his own good I think cuz he really didn't tell me what it was for but I was assuming that thats what purpose it did serve.
thanks for the reply I'll try one of those and let you know how it works.
