ok, so I used virtualdub to capture some video at 29.9697 fps, and I wanted to splice that together with a clip that I made with ImageReader. On imagereader I used assumefps(29.9697) and attempted to join the clips together, but I'm getting errors saying the framerate doesn't match. NE ideas?

those framerate values are float-variables.
this means even if you visualize their values, they may differ because of internal rounding errors.
btw.: 29.9697fps isn't that a little bit odd?
do assumefps(29.97) on both sources.

Or if you're using AviSynth 2.55 or later, you can use:clip2.AssumeFPS(clip1)

thanx, I expecially didn't know about the .AssumeFPS(clip) method... that could be helpful for some of my other scripts
