Quenc 54 only 853 KB, Qenc 59A 2.86 MB ??

I have uzipped both versions.

The directory Quenc 54 only is 853 KB large (including DLL)

The directory Quenc 59A is suddenly 2.86 MB ???

59A has only a exe and no DLL

Can explain this huge difference ?

It's compiled with the code in the .EXE rather than the .DLL. For a while Nic broke out the .DLL because he didn't want to release his code too early. The GNU rules require that you release your code if the DLL is intrinsic.

also people were testing out different compiles of the dll. however when they are not from the same cvs date they can cause crashes or other unwanted side effects etc. so not a good idea. having it inbuilt means no more complaints about how QuEnc does or doesnt work with someone elses dll. :)

as for the size, the answer is UPX. other builds have been compressed(including the dll) with UPX while 0.59 has not. just to show you i just ran 0.59 through UPX 1.24 and it shrunk to 892kb.

The other reason is that nowadays...it's not just libavcodec, but libavformat that is included (because it can now mux the video and audio)

I'm sure the 2.86mb won't be taking too much of your harddrive up ;)
