bbMPEG Crash

I'm sure most who use bbMPEG know that it crashes if you don't first click on "Load" at the top left of the program, and then cancel out, and THEN you can go ahead and mux your streams or whatever.

But I wonder, why hasn't anyone written a patch for this? I know I have no idea how to code whatsoever and I don't know the difficulty of it at all, but you'd think a program so widely used would've been patched / modded by now. Just curious... mainly to know why it's not fixed, and also if someone ever did write a custom modded version to correct the crash issue.
