Need Some help regarding encoding duration, playback of ND AVC files

i had recently bought the R3 2-disc dvd of "I,Robot" ! so i decide to encode it to 1-disc mp4 using nero recode 2, i followed the doom9 guide, and the 1st pass took 5 hrs., but the 2nd pass took a whooping 24 hrs., so it took me 29 hrs., and now the output file has audio out of sync, it is barely playable in showtime (video progress is too slow), and even in other players video progress is not too smooth (it progresses frame by frame),iwas guessing this might be due to the telecine stuff in r3 dvd's,which was as per the info showed in recode 2 when i imported the dvd, but when i checked it out in dgindex, it turns out that the dvd is 29.97 fps, film 99 %? help me guys! also, can i do this, just encode video in recode and then later on mux the audio file seperately? also, please tell me where the log file is stored so i will post it too!

512 MB Ram
GeForce FX 5200
During Encoding, i had disabled all screensavers and antivirus stuff too, and i have no spyware or adware on my pc!

No it's not.
Try lowering the default settings : Quality "best" and 2 references are enough and should give a performance boost with very little quality degradation.

If it's in full resolution with the best settings and all the options activated it will surely take all yours pc's power and will ask for more. I surely know that :D .

Max. reference frame... i suppose that is the maximum reference frames (gop properties).

P.S. try a smaller resolution (640x272 instead?). It will give you faster results.
