My DVD's i burned w/DVD Shrink dont play in player aynmore

The program started fine. It worked thru about ten movies..then it just started burning discs that only work on my computer and not in my player. Has anyone ever seen this before. I am using Maxell 8X DVD+R on a Lite-On SOHW 1633S. Let me know if you have seen this before and know about these discs or a setting i changed by mistake. Cuz when it burns down it says nero is making a dvd video and everything. I'm in over my head.

this should probably be in the DVDshrink forum...

does it play at all in your standalone? is the disc recognised? are the bad discs from a new batch (maxell discs are made by mitsubishi and are pretty good, so that's probably not the issue).

if you have any DVD5's, make a straight copy of one of them and see if it plays. i haven't encountered Shrink making unplayable discs before...

you could set shrink to make an ISO image file, and burn with another program (DVDdecrypter is pretty useful).

Also make sure your firmware is up to date (http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_all.php (http://forum.digital-digest.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=44806)), and the media is compatible ([url]http://www.videohelp.com/dvdwriters).

Having said that, IMHO, burning an image with DVD Decrypter is better than using Nero. See here (http://forum.digital-digest.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=45025) for an explanation why.

no....my discs do not play in my standalone at all...i checked this site link and it makes sense to use decrypter...but it was working fine from the start...i even attempted burns with movies i already burned before and nada. it says dvd-rom on the header of my stand alone and searching files...when it finishes search it says no files found. Let me know if you get any other ideas please...im gonna try reloading the program after i reload OS and see if that works. Got other issues making all that necessary...will get back to you...thanks to you both for answering...got alot of great ideas on what to check next...:) :)

Check your disks afterwards in Nero CD-DVD Speed - its a freedownload at http://www.cdspeed2000.com/ (download the helpfile too). Make sure there are no read errors. Burn at lower speeeds - 4x max.

I see now what it was...i was comparing my good burns wiht the bad ones using decrypters disc info tool. The ones that work say RITEK-(etc). The ones that dont say MAXELL-002(etc). Looks like a bad batch of DVD's to me. Unless you got more info I'm going to buy another brand of compatable DVD's that don't have outsourced production.

Valuable lesson there. Crazy ain't it that same brand can come from 2 manufacturers?

One thing I've done is to find a good reputable online supplier. Phone their help line first and ask about the disks. They tend to know more than instore clerks. And they supply good stuff.

I use Riteks, and my supplier guarantees they are Ritek mfd. Never had a coaster with them.

So stick with them. They seem to work with your burner.

Have been buying from them for years and in over 1000 burns with this media I have had only one coaster due to the media.

just hoping the media you were referring to was the RITEK brand...i just bought a 50 pak
