Good tools to increase audio ?

Hi,

I’m using MPC to play video and audio files.
With some audio or video files the quality of the sound is good so I use AC3Filter v1.01a to increase the volume, normalize and increase the voice (for movies playback).

I use too, a good tool DSP-Filter (http://www.dsp-worx.de/index.php?n=4) which has Equalizer, Compressor, Dynamic Amplify,… and can load Winamp DSP Plugin.

I think I’m not the only one that need to optimize its sound, so I was just curious to know what others are using.

Is there a tool to optimize voice during movie playback ? or something to increase the volume ?

I use MatrixMixer but it's functionality is already embeeded in AC3Filter.

I've already tried MatrixMixer and switched to AC3Filter v1.01a after.

Just to complete my first message, I don't have problem with AC3Filter or DSP-Filter, I'm just curious of what other people are using.

The best tool (related to topic) is DeDynamic 0.2 filter (I think it's in the download section on doom9.org).
It' a Directshow filter too, to dimamically amplify the sound to a specific level ...

The Big problem with that, that it's only working avis with 2 channel sound (so mp3, 2ch AC3), it doesn't support 5.1ch AC3 sound ... :(

However there's a newer version of this filter (included in The Core Media Player (www.tcmp.org)) which supports multichannel sound, but it's not a standard directshow filter (!!!) so we cannot use with MPC ! :(((
I have asked people (here and on tcmp.org) to rewrite this filter to be a standard one with no much luck :(
Perhaps when the TCMP 5 will be released (it will be opensource (http://corecodec.org/projects/tcmp)) we will get a wonderful DS filter ....

Till then use this filter with mp3-avis! (After you have registered the filter, you have to add to the filters in MPC and select 'Prefer' in the 'Overrides' section. When you're playing multichannel avis the filter simply doesn't came up, so it doesn't make a mess)

(There is a newer version of this DS filter called DynEQ 0.2 (with the same limitation like the DeDynamic :( ), which has an equalizer, but it conflicts with the TMPC's built-in filter, so I don't use it ...)

ffdshow has an additional directx filter for audio. It offers an equlizer, can adjust volume with normalization and can appearently use Winamp 2 DSP filters.
