codec for playing divx movies

I must have installed something that has caused my codec to screw up. I used to be able to play divx movies, but now cant. I tried to download the codec from the download section but that doesnt help. Anyone recommend me where to get a good codec download that will work?

Install more codecs? I believe you may want to UNinstall some ;) Either use a player that can handle codecpacks (RL, ZP Pro) or use RadLight Filter Manager and clean-up your system.

Install ffDShow and you should be fine. If some other codec interferes - in the ffDShow options you can set what videos ffDShow will be used for and what not.
Best mpeg4 codec IMO with tons of additional filters and settings, it also plays a lot of other codecs like DV, mpeg1 and RAW video (if you want it to - it's all configurable)

If by "the codec from the download section" you meant ffDShow and it still doesn't work, go into ffDShow configuration (it's in the start menu) go to "Codecs" and see if mpeg4 and Divx are set to "libavcodec" (this is ffDShow) and not to "disabled" or some other codec.
When all mpeg4 formats are set to libavcodec and it still doesn't work I guess it's time for a big codec cleanup on your system (has never happened to me though)
