Help with really noisy anime

Hi!

I hope anyone can help me because I'm really desperate.
Today I captured anime in German digital television and I wanted to compress it but got horrible results. So I tried to denoise it, but I didn't get it because it was so heavily noised(I've attached a pic to give an impression). I got some results with the Virtualdub filters cnr 2.1 with a value of 24 and smartsmoother HiQ with diameter 11 and threshold 65, but these filters aren't available for avisynth. I wanted to try cnr and msmooth for avisynth as they should to roughly the same, but neuron2's site is down.

You could try Convolution3d it has presets just for Anime:

Convolution3d (preset="animeHQ") // Anime Hi Quality (good DVD source)
is an alias for Convolution3D (0, 6, 12, 6, 8, 2.8, 0)

Convolution3d (preset="animeLQ") // Anime Low Quality (noisy DVD source)
is an alias for Convolution3D (1, 8, 16, 8, 8, 2.8, 0)

is an alias for Convolution3D (1, 12, 22, 8, 8, 2.8, 0)

You could try Deening it to death :)

Grab Deen and try Deen("a3d",2,4,4) <- Of course, settings go even higher!
Try randomly raising all the numbers randomly if you need to kill more noise - the readme explains vagully what they do, I think. Usually works for me ^^

Thanks, I'll try it, and yes, I know the filter collection, but I did not know that all the files are hosted there, I thought they linked to the author's homepage if available.

Now I got it working, i used
dnr2(24,type="dnr2")
Deen("a2d",5,20,20)

I fear for the detail after undergoing a strength 20 deen.

No, it works really well this way.
It seems very much, but you haven't seen the source :) . It is really noisy, you have the feeling the characters have white skin with orange noise. Now they have a solid filled face ^^. And yes, some details (if there were any) are smoothed, but as it is anime, there are hard contrasts and the edges are not smoothed. And I like it smooth ;) . That's why I refer real video, all the blocks nero digital produces are horrible to watch.

Hmm, I don't seem to have recomended using a strength 20 Deen.
If someone wants to use Deen on Strength 20 it's up to them, but I'd probably never recomend using Deen at that level of strength.

You COULD try the FFT3D denoiser if we're dealing with grain-like noise like that - it's very slow, but it might help and possibly won't reduce detail too much.

No, really, I'm satisfied with the results. The deen a2d results look similar to mftoon, I think.
