View Full Version : Weird Premiere Pro export problem

Hi,
I'm trying to wrap up a fun little project that involved synching English dubbed audio (from VHS) to a Japanese cartoon (ripped from a DVD) to create a dubbed video version. It's a smashing success, but I'm having trouble using Premiere Pro to export it to an AVI file.
I've tried encoding the video with DivX 5 and a couple of different flavors of the Microsoft MPEG-4 codec. The output file is a playable AVI, but the video is a goddamn mess-- it's jittery and brimming with artifacts and compression errors.
What am I doing wrong? This is an 80-minute movie, so I don't have the space to just leave compression turned off.

Export it to a lossless codec like Huffyuv, then compress that to divx in virtualdub. If you don't have space for a huffyuv, try using this frameserver to send the video straight to virtualdub: http://www.debugmode.com/frameserver/

Frameserving it did the trick! Thanks very much for the valuable tip. But the audio track is broken. I exported the audio separately to a WAV with Premiere, but is there any way to join the video and separate WAV audio as a single movie without completely re-rendering the file in Virtualdub?

sorry can't be much help with DivX, but if you used one of the MS codecs try using their utilities like the stream editor. Don't know if you'll have to convert to wma or not, but it's easy enough to run a test or three with small samples.

Of course you can!
You have simply to mux the audio-video stream toghether, you can do with vdub with direct-sream copy for video and Wav- source for audio.
You can do it with Avimuxgui too.

I always have weird color artifacts whenever I export anything from Premiere using Huffy under Windows 2000 or XP.
I needed to change it for Core PNG which is working fine.
Does anybody know about this problem?

Yep, Premiere Pro has issues exporting to nearly every single codec I tried in it.

Use DebugMode frameserve.
