Received as gift for xmas....

I'm not able to understand if the dvds have interlaced content. Looking at them with virtual dub and this script

LoadPlugin("mpeg2dec3dg.dll")
Mpeg2Source("clip.d2v")

I didn't note no clues about.


Does someone knows ?

Any suggestion for an avisynth script ?

deinterlacing the PAL-TNG-DVDs isn't easy, because they contain sone weird kind of blending.

you may try using my function repair_PAL_TNG_DVD()

but be warned:

it is slow. and sometimes produces stutter.
(which is also present, when deinterlacing this stuff)

the best would be, to leave those DVD interlaced...

EDIT: Do you mean TNG or TOS?
TOS *should* be completely progressive....
so no deinterlacing required.

Thanks for your reply. But I'm referring to the original series, with Kirk as captain. Decodefix1.1 states it's interlaced content...I tried to encode with xvid 1.01 with the progressive flag on and off: I saw no differences (no ad hoc processing with decodefix for interlaced content).
How can I make sure it's progressive content ? I don't own an standalone dvd player (sorry) but only my pc player.

look with your eyes?!?

if you see combs -> interlaced -> needs treatment
if you don't see combs -> progressive

do not rely on dvd2avi or dgindex information regarding interlaced/progressive!
it is only reporting the encoding-scheme, not the frame-content!

ok, I got a cd from season 7 of TNG and I saw the difference !

TOS is progressive, at least cd1. I also tested on a grundig livance a friend of mine has. My avi works fine...

Any suggestion about to remove the scratches ? Maybe the descratch filter (bag.hotmail.ru) ?
