well done on posting such a well thought out and descriptive post on your first go. (thats sarcasm incase you missed it)
infact there are 5 other threads already on this forum that already talk about RE2 so i suggest you learn how to :search: and think about what you want to say before make another pointless post.

Sony should know the best copy protection is on the disc itself.
After watching, who would want a copy???

:confused: I admit to being a newbe to all this but is there a way to copy Resident Evil? I can't get DVD Shrink to work with it. CRC errors. The previous post make little sence to me, please advise.
Thanks blutach!!!

Hi lawnchair - get new version 3.5.2.0 of DVD Decrypter and rip the DVD in file mode (all files). This will get a copy of the DVD onto your hard drive. Then open it in DVD Shrink (Open Files).

:D in dvd shrink change your files to iso files then disable burn with nero(thats what not letting you make abackup)and use dvd decrypter to burn your iso file into dvd

Sorry mikenge, that was not the problem. It was a new kind of protection that has recently been overcome by DVD Decrypter.
Having said that, burning an image file with DVDD is better than Nero. See here (http://forum.digital-digest.com/showthread.php?s=&postid=219649#post219649).

I finally got this movie backed up after many hassles and headaches. The main issue I was seeing was that I wanted to blank out some of the extras and of course blank out that damn dummy vts 7 and 8. But I couldnt for the life of me get any app to successfully blank out those titlesets and output the correct files. So eventually i just totally removed the titlesets from the rip folder (just deleted all of the files for vts 7 and 8) and then opened it up in ifoedit. Did a get vts sectors to correct the ifo's. Then ran it through remake sucessfully and then burned. (No need for compression because after removing the fullscreen version of the movie and some of the audio it fit with no compression. Now on to the second movie like this... Little Black Book. I hope it doesnt give me so much trouble. Oh and yes RE2 played fine in my dvd player after all this.

@theseeker
You wanna hope those VTS's aren't referenced anywhere in the IFOs or menu buttons or else you will get a dead stop.
Best to run the disk through VobBlanker (http://www.posunplugged.com/jsoto/), which turns them into 10K "stubs" and leaves the navigation intact.
Ditto for LBB.

Yea I tried blanking them with vobblanker. I got read errors everytime when it finally got to those vts's. It never could successfully blank out those two vts's. And I tried more than once.

If you wana blank the whole VTS, you could use PgcEdit.
