View Full Version : High-def (1080i) Mpeg2 media playback & direct-show filter questions

Living in Europe we don't have much high-def Mpeg2 content. So much of what I've got has either been sent to me on CD/DVD or downloaded from official sites.

The thing I'm finding difficult to get to grips with is, that some media players with their own Mpeg2 filters, such as MediaPlayer Classic, ShowTime, VLC etc, play some content very well but b0rk with other content. The same thing seems to happen when switching between Mpeg2 filters.

The problems encountered don't seem to follow the same pattern either. MPC plays some content at half speed and then other content at twice speed. 25pfps content often plays better than 29.970!

Could the audio stream be affecting the video stream? Do .ts streams present more problems than .mpg or .m2t streams?

Are there any people out there with more experience of playing high-def Mpeg2 content on their PC's, able to provide any comments please?

Cheers
