Best DVD backup time?

Do you have a really fast state-of-the-art PC-based system? If so, what has your best (on average) backup time for DVDs? Can you do better than real-time?

By backup, I mean copying a double density DVD to a single DVD+-R DVD...

I would say so.

What do you mean by "real-time" ? Running time of the movie or what ? Or Running time of the movie and all the extras ?

Well, I need about 20 minutes using DVD Shrink and Deep Analyzing to shrink the main movie of a dual layer DVD into a single layer DVD. And then, it takes me about 25 minutes to burn (I have an old 2.4x DVD burner).

So, 45 minutes total. That is if you use AnyDVD. Otherwise you'll additionally need about 20 minutes ripping time.

I wuz thinkin about the running time of the movie, but that's a good point about the other stuff contained on the DVD...

Actually, it can be made very fast on relatively slow machine if no recoding is needed. (Sometimes dropping out couple soundtracks is enough to fit on 4.7 GB). Btw. DVD Shrink does recoding very fast even on 1 GHz CPU, but it depends much from choosen quality.
So, it depends most from speed of DVD burning, and from speed of source DVD reading.

Conclusion: do not spend money on fast CPU/RAM! :D

It takes me abot 30 mins to DVDShrink my DVD's. and around 20 mins to burn. I have a 2.4 - 4x DVD-R/RW. So it takes me around 45 - 50 to completly burn a back up dvd. It also depends on how fast you can click lol.
