View Full Version : Divx in Adobe Encore?

I've been encoding my captures to high quality divx (640x352 single pass quality w/ quant 1.7) I'm very happy with these results.

However, I am now trying to get into some DVD Authoring using Adobe Encore 1.5. When I try and import my Divx clips into Encore I get a message saying that my clips aren't the correct resolution and need to be DVD res.

I open my clips back up in Virtual Dub...however this is where I'm getting confused. My clips are currently 16x9 aspect ratio and have been cropped to chop off the black sections at top and bottom (to allow more bitrate for actual picture w/ divx.) Now, Encore tells me my resolution must be 720x480, 720x486, or 704x480. If I try and resize to this, however, it stretches out my clips and they look stupid cuz now they're not 16x9 anymore.

Any information on how I can get these clips into Encore correctly would be greatly appreciated. I've attached screen-cap of one of my clips so you can get an idea of what I'm working with.

Thanks!

You do realise DVD uses MPEG2, not MPEG4/DivX? You need to re-encode the clips (although I did think Encore supports some form of this).

With Divx your pixel aspect ratio is 1:1, but this is not the case with DVD. So resizing divx to DVD resolution will look odd unless you also switch to MPEG2.
