MPEG1 to wmv or asf

Hi... help is needed.

I have a bunch of MPEG1 files (and I mean a lot) and I need to convert them to wmv or asf format in bataches (hopefully, a lot like at least a thousand at a time).

Is there any good inexpensive/free software that can accomplish this task?

Try looking at Windows Media Encoder 9: -

It will however, take you some time to learn many of its main functions... And I think it includes batch processing!

IIRC in wme sdk there was in vb.net written batch encoder
