Making a dvd with my various mpegs?

How do i go about making a dvd with my various mpegs i have? I have nero dvd edtion. I have successfully decrypted/shrunk and burned a dvd using nero and vob files. But i,m at a loss as to what to do with mpeg and avi files. I have made a VCD of my mpegs using nero but making a dvd seems to be a different proposition.

Any pointers would be great
