...I have been using a pro mini dv camera for capturing 16mm films, then using VirtualdubMod to do hotspot removal, luminance deflickering, and gamma and color corrections on old faded Eastmancolor prints. Also, I split off the audio, do digital noise reduction and cleanup, then splice the audio back into the avi file. Then write them to a dvd. The overall results I have been getting have been excellent.
I am now thinking of getting a new HDV dvcam (Sony HDR-FX1E), and doing the same again. Although the camera is a 16:9 format, it can be used in 4:3 format, with the conversion being done in the camera.
What I would like to know will it be possible to use the native 16:9 format of the camera, which is recorded in mpeg2 format, and do all my editing at the maximum resolution of the camera, which is 1080 by 960 pixels. Will VDubMod handle editing video frames like this, or is it (and the plugins) limited to 720 x 576 (I use PAL format).
Sorry to be so long-winded...
Regards, Rob
