Having problems with resident evil apocalypse ripping with dvd shrink. Im using the latest version, and i have three different machines that ive tried it on, all they're all doing the same thing. It gives me "data error" (cyclic redundancy check) , and ("copyright error messages") maybe its the disc, ill swap it at B-buster, and let you guys know. Just wondering if anyone else had the same problem with that movie. I know its kinda early, but i had the day off, and decided to go and pick it up this morning.
Thanks

It's not just that copy. They are all this way. I thought it was a bad disc as well when I purchased it. I exchanged it and the new one does the same thing. Maybe a new scheme of protection.

Have you tried ripping it with dvd decrypter? There is also a special function under the file menu in dvd decrypter called protected sectors list you can try.

3.5.1.0 ??
man I give up, I know Im not that good at this but even when doing the settings they mentioned in other posts such as ignore read errors it still sits on 2_1.vob@ 16,348 and keeps giving errors for every sector. I have to be missing something cause Ive tried tons of settings.
dvd shrink newest and vstrip....I understand the concept of the problem I just cant set the programs it seems.

The fix is NOT automatically in 3.5.1.0

yo dragon - mayyte!!! - you should see the digital digest board. It's hopeless. Even the DVD Decrypter SF board is crowded out with this. I'm not even gunna get the flick when it comes out here.
Oh, and it's "arse" as you bloody well know.

yes but the Doom9 forum is generally pretty clean and double(or more as in this case) posts are usually picked up.

HAHAHA actually its a direct quote from an American movie and that is how it is quoted/spelled and also pronounced in the movie. as such i am just being true to the quote. ;)

I did find it in another post finally yesterday and used it
I kept reading the forum to get it from wasnt accepting people
thanks for posting it for me again, now to learn why it will play on the PC DvD but not the Tv DvD. I read not to shrink it but am trying to learn what to do by reading numerous other posts.

I tried the fix but it didnt work for me.
which fix though ? running it through vobblanker seems to work(not in the U.S. so i cant test it). of course since there is now 6 threads where RE2 is asked about you may have missed that. :)
but hey so long as you found what works for you then more power to you. :D

Can someone confirm with the new dvddecrypter 3.5.2.0 released today do you need to
a) I/O tab set "Ignore read errors"
b) CSS tab set "Detect Mastering errors"
a and b, a only, b only or neither a nor b to rip successfully resident evil 2 region 1?
or just use the "file menu in dvd decrypter called protected sectors" like dannyv mentions?
nevermind....guess you needn't do anything just get 3.5.2.0 and no PSL file is needed, etc. Read all this on dvddecrypter forums.
No you dont need the PSL file.
It actually came from 3.5.2.0 so the technology is built in and ready to use from the second you fire up the program.

@mrbass
I'm sure you're aware by now, but the new version is a systemetic fix. Eg Little Black Book also no longer needs a PSL file.

ok so you've already answered this post yourself really but I just want to make it clear to everyone....
a) You should never need to turn that on - EVER! If there is ever such a time as you get a DVD that's scratched to bits and gives lots of errors, you just ignore 5 errors and you're then offered the chance of ignoring all future errors. Of course the best solution would just be to get another 'working' copy of the disc!
b) That has nothing at all to do with errors on the disc. Ok so the name may be a bit misleading - I guess that's my fault! All that option does it tell the program to look for key changes at every cell/vob id within the VOB file. It will do nothing towards helping you read discs with bad sectors.
So in conclusion, default settings in 3.5.2.0 will rip these discs perfectly well.

@Lightning UK!
Thanks for that explanation. In regards to (b), I have it turned on as I guess CSS could change by V/C ID (very crafty non?) and it certainly can't hurt. I don't find it slows things down either.

Yes, I guess the key 'could' change but as we've seen in the past, there are a lot of players out there that just wont work with such discs!
For that reason, I very much doubt they'd ever do it on purpose - people get mad very quickly!
So if the key ever did change, it would be considered a 'Mastering Error' - hence where the name came from! :)

Thanks for that Lightning UK.
Must admit, I've not seen any disk with a "mastering error"; I'm just a safety nut, that's all.
