hello ALL

I have stupid question . I record mpeg2 video . I use dvd2avi to make D2v. Then make AVS file and using Deinterlace filter ( Decomb or Tomoscomp) . Then I use VirtualDub to make DIVX AVI . So what is the result.avi ? Interlaced or Progressive?

I ask because I am sure that the result AVI must be progressiv after deinterlacing . Right? But when I use PROCODER 2.0 to check It shows me that is interlaced / bottom field ....

Please help me !

it should be progressive. make sure you encode as progressive in the DivX settings too.

How can Procoder know? AVIs don't store report whether they're interlaced or progressive or report field-order, right?

Right. But they can analyze the first few frames and make a guess based on various metrics. But if one knows it is progressive, just override the guess and stop worrying about it.
