i have read the analogue capture guide and i realised that one of the best program for capping is virtual dub. the reccomended frame size for my chip (philps saa 7134) with "good quality low size capping" was
384x576 with vertical downsize ("on the fly" 2:1 cubic resizing) so the two fields give best picture. OK. so i started virtual dub (my favorite when i had the bt878 card, so i'm quite familiar with it) and in the custom frame size i select that res. it didn't report any problems when i close that window (which usually happens when you select unsupported frame size, right?)
so i set the audio and start with capture and the program stops (doesn't crash) and reports some "error 411" to check my frame size or audio or color depth,i hit OK and it's back to normal. then i select 384x288 and it's working fine. So can i somehow get the quality as the downsized video, without discarding the second field on that res. I was surprised when i saw the wdm support for my card on the capture meny, and i hope that the developer of virtual dub will write a better code than this one to support the non bt878 and wdm devices. it doesn't belong here but i think that you should update your guides with text for some other programs compatible with the wdm driver and not so virtualdub oriented text (in the guide it was one page for the virtualvcr, and 8 for virtualdub) add so like fly2000tv which showed me best results. I accept that virtual dub is one of the best, but guide it, so it can support the rest... :)
