Hi, i searched this fourm for this question so i any one else finds in please tell me. I am converting a vob to divx using Gordian Knot .27 and the same rip-pack. The problem is when i encode i get sound but no video file is shown. So could you please explain what to do.

You may have a procedural problem, you may have a codec problem, you may have a windows problem.

Use Gspot (http://www.doom9.org/Soft21/Editing/gspot221.exe).

It will show you what's in your .avi file, what codecs are available/unavailable, and if your PC is able to render the output.

it seems like my DivX MPEG-4DVD Video Decompressor is missing, is there any way of fixing it? The file is DivX_C32.ax

You could try removing and reinstalling DivX.

yep, did that the same problem is happining, what can i do. So far i have been using this guide http://www.gromkov.com/tutorials/divx5.html
but i am doing everthing fine but the only thing missing is Bits/Pixel*Frame section. There is nothing there or any numbers. Is that the problem.

That guide uses an out-of-date version of GKnot. But that's not your problem.

GSpot showed you that DivX is improperly installed. The Decoder was not installed or is missing, and and is not found. But your last message tells me you may have encoding trouble, too.

Start VirtualDub or VdubMod, whichever comes with that older release of Gknot. Use the Video...Compression menu command, and see if DivX 5.2.1 is in the list of codecs. If you don't see it, the DivX Encoder isn't installed, either.

I see it actually i see two Divx 5.2.1 codecs intsalled under FOURCC code its says "divx". And the other Divx 5.2.1 says "yv12". Is that a problem

That's the way it appears when the codec is installed. But you should search to see if the DivX_C32.ax file exists on your hard drive, since you don't seem to have the decoder installed properly. On my Windows 2000 PC, its in c:\winnt\system32.

Yea its found i intalled divx Alpha thing. I just had to install that again. But i now i am using the new GKnot thing. I think i found my problem on the Guide on doom9 when it comes to the part "save and encode" and then you have to press now for the compatablity check i get this error.

"Avisynth open failure: LoadPlugin: Unable to load "C:\PROGRA~1\GORDIA~1\MPEG2DEC2.DLL" (C:\PROGRA~1\GORDIA~1\LastCompCheck.avs,line ) Is there away of fixing it.

then after press okay i get this box.

Log File not found. Unable to get compressability value

DivX Alpha releases are not stable, and should not be used except for codec testing. See http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=85854. Please use the latest production release of DivX (5.2.1) for now.

You apparently have a blend of Gknot releases installed on top of each other. This may be the root cause of your problems.

Remove and reinstall Gknot completely: Start Gknot Select the Options tab Press the Delete Registry Keys button Exit Gknot Start ... (All) Programs ... Gordian Knot ... Uninstall -- if the option exists. Delete the entire folder structure under C:\Program Files\Gordian KnotObtain the latest release, 0.33.1, from http://sourceforge.net/projects/gordianknot/, and install both the rip pack and codec pack.

I think I see the problem. You used "just mux" with a Dolby Digital (.ac3) soundtrack.

Install AC3Filter (http://www.doom9.org/Soft21/Filters/ac3filter_0_70b.exe) and your sound should appear.

priyaradha
30th December 2004, 17:46
yea, but i already have ac3 filter that came with GK is there another way to get the sound insted of .ac3?

jggimi
30th December 2004, 20:59
Examine your .avi file with GSpot (http://www.doom9.org/Soft21/Editing/gspot221.exe). Does it have a soundtrack? Can it render the sound?

[EDIT: I just went back to the log. You've only got a first pass in it. What happend to the second pass and muxing?]

priyaradha
30th December 2004, 21:23
is it neccery to use second pass, anyways i will go through sencond pass and tell you what happends.

jggimi
30th December 2004, 21:28
YES.

If GK is too complex, please consider using AutoGK instead.

priyaradha
30th December 2004, 22:54
okay i got it, i will also try autogk but i get this error message during the process of enocding

Cannot Start Video compression

The source image format is not acceptable
