MEncoder+libavcodec MPEG4+ect.codec...

Has anyone often encode video with mencoder mpeg4 codec?
it always crash for me if i add some option like, b-frame, min/max quant, ME options, ... and the most important one, 2pass encoding...:(
Sometime i can encode video successfully with the first pass, but it can't continue the second pass...(crash, with unknown reason...)

It's not really possible to answer this question since you don't actually show us what went wrong.

Get a CVS build of mplayer (there have been several 2pass related changes since 1.0pre5). If the problem persists, post mplayer's output.

i can't produce watchable video if using the m$mpeg4v2 and divx3.11 codec option above...

IIRC mencoder will crash if i use b-frame with mpeg4 codec, or if i use, there will be no b-frame in the result video.

i don't know why mencoder(libavcodec divx3.11, m$mpeg4v2, h263+, mpeg4 and mpeg2) can't encode most of my MPEG1 video(most of them are demux and edit by freeware TMPGEnc).
XviD(inside mencoder) and x264 are pretty stable by now, but x264 will crash if the set the max quant too high(31-42)...(i wonder why the mencoder will crash instead give me a waring and stop processing).:confused:

I will posting more picture, option or output regarding the mencoder at next post.:)

Now i'm using the MPlayer 1.0pre6: "X-mas present" bulid:D , most of the problem i encounter already fixed with this build.

It's pretty obvious with the encoding option qprd,
if don't use this option with Divx3.11 and m$ mpeg4v2 encoding, the problem will gone.
