How to measure quality of two dvdbackup programs

I'm in dire need of every ounce of quality. I am using dvd shrink and clonedvd2 (bc it keeps menus).

I can get 59% in dvd shrink(entire dvd to dvd5) but it does have extra features to improve quality(deep analysis and smooth/sharpness).

I can get 63% in clonedvd2 (took a few extras out, and kept menu) but it doesn't note any extra features.

When i get done backing these up on my hd how can i test which will have better qualiyt? Bitrate? I'm clueless.

you watch them there is no other 100% reliable way to decide which you will prefer.

have you tried running the dvd through clonedvd and removing the same things but setting output size so no compression is done, then running the produced files through dvdshrink ? you could also try just removing some things with vobblanker if that didnt work.

if you can't bear to lose any quality, there's always DVD+R DL media...
