Wasn't easy to get the new version coz most mirrors aren't updated yet.

I can't add a job to encoding queue. I make my configurations and when I press the button 'add job to encoding queue' I get the following error:

Access violation at adress 00405999 in module 'GordianKnot.exe'. Read of address C08B0800.

Maybe it's helpful to know that I'm running an Athlon64, but there were no problems with v0.28.8.

The only thing I can do is to restore 0.28.8 back online as I'm unable to have a look at this problem this year...

I could help if you want. Since i am a delphi programmer myself and have that particular problem, it may be possible to trace the problem.

Does this fix the problem by any chance:

At first glance it seems to solve the problem. I managed to add a job and start encoding without problem. it will take 1-2 hours to finish though.
It also seems to solve the other problem i have when opening and closing an avi file.
And since i am a programmer, i would be very interested to know what the problem was...

I just downloaded gknot 0.33 from two different mirrors on the sourceforge page and all I get is 14 KB executable that opens a command window and sends a moving cursor back and forth diagonally across the window! Is this trojan/virus or what? This is the page I downloaded from:

http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/gordianknot/GordianKnot.RipPack.0.33.Setup.exe?download&failedmirror=voxel.dl.sourceforge.net

I don't know why opening AVI issue was fixed, but Audio tab problem resided in OGG quality combobox that was not initialized properly (no selection by default). It beats me why this problem doesn't always appear though...

I'm gonna repack GK into 0.33.1 today

Great! Due to the difficulty of downloading the pack from mirrors, I applied the patch you gave to 0.32beta (not using obsolete ogm files, the only need I had was to avoid the crash of DivX's connection to the internet)... It looks working till now, but I am really interested to see the whole package....

Well my new GK stopped whining after I selected vorbis, maybe once you happen to select it, all's good?

You know I like long threads :) This one is fine.

It was an OGG bitrate selector problem, so yes after you set the bitrate for it - it seems OK (although even reinstall doesn't force the problem back on for me...)

hmm must have been a little to quick with my first download... after a looooong download time i recieved a CRC error when opening the file... anyway, downloading again, with 60k+ ... :)

edit: ok... installing went fine, so did configuring the encode (xvid, 2cd 1 ac3 track) ... now running the encode! looks all very nice!

I managed to reproduce the problem :)
I had to uninstall 0.33, re-install 0.32, uninstall and reinstall again (deleting all I could in the process).

And I can confirm that the error is there for every audio until the bitrate is set in the vorbis box, and then goes away for good.

Btw, I didn't encounter all the " delete/keep codecs settings" stuff in the 0.33 installer, like there is in the previous ones...is that normal?

Yes, coz uninstaller always has to be run before, so settings are gone anyway.

Hi ,I just wanted to inform you of an issue with the install of the GK RipPack that has been around for a few versions incase you wanted to correct it.
The problem being that when you get to the vobsub install,if you select either VOBSub for Virtualdub or TextSub for Virtualdub & Avisynth plugins (not sure about the 3rd plugin as I have never tried it )that are not selected by default, the vobsub install window will hang at the end of the install and have to be ended with the Task Manager in order for the GK install to complete. (When VobSub asks where VirtualDub is located I direct it to VirtualDubMod in the Gordian Knot folder, and it accepts this with no problem.) I should say that this does not cause a problem with the use of GK once installed and does not occur if the extra plugins are not selected.

niamh
23rd December 2004, 07:59
@ jsprogg : I noticed that, but if you direct it to Vdub instead of vdubmod, it works fine.

@len0x : Doh ;)

Any MKV users around?

I'm trying to compile a new CodecPack with OGM/MKV playback support, but I can't seem to play MKV with vorbis sound - I see the video, but no sound... I have splitter, muxer and CoreVorbis installed, but still not sound (even after installing Matroska Packs)

try oggds0996.exe (yes, the old directshow filters) some time could fix the problem

I have 0.9.9.5 installed and have no problem playing OGM files with OGG sound tracks. Only OGG in MKV gives me the trouble.

niamh
23rd December 2004, 20:26
What player are you using? What appears in filter properties? I've never had issues with ogg in mkv myself.
Do you get no sound with the old yardstick wmp 6.4? I think you may be in for a codec clean-up :D :D Or you could try reregistering the ogg stuff on top of what's there if you're lazy, it's worked for me before with the odd codec issue.

I suggest reinstalling the ogg codec.

I use mkv exclusivly, i just love it. Is it accessing the filter properly len0x? Can you see it working properly in graphedit also?

You could give the latest MPC a try with its inbuilt splitter. Grab it from celtic_druid, i believe he is the one who made the latest build. You could also try the latest ffdshow from sourceforge, it has an ogg audio filter built in.

I am a steady guest in the matroska IRC channel. As the bigger part of the matroska team members is now banned from Doom9, i thought i better post here what was said in the channel about this issue :

<ChrisHJW> lo jcsston
<jcsston> lo
<alexnoe> up again?
* Toronikku has joined #matroska
<jcsston> yep :)
<ChrisHJW> alexnoe : we cant reply to him, we are both banned :D
<ChrisHJW> jcsston : http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=87011&perpage=20&highlight=matroska&pagenumber=2 <--- can you help the guy ?)
<robUx4> if CoreVorbis wouldn't work with OggDS we would have been harrassed a long time ago
<ChrisHJW> robUx4 : yeah, you are right
<alexnoe> :)
<robUx4> maybe he simply didn't install CoreVorbis ?
<robUx4> ah, he said he has it installed
<ChrisHJW> he installed the pack
<ChrisHJW> maybe a soundcard incompatibility ?
<robUx4> bah
<ChrisHJW> he maybe set CoreVorbis to 24 bit output ?
<robUx4> he tries to make a codec pack
<robUx4> maybe he has a lot of filters installed, causing problems ?
<ChrisHJW> robUx4 : he is the Gordian Knot dev
<robUx4> and he should figure out the pb in GraphEdit
<ChrisHJW> yeah, Graphedit is the way to go here. If we see the playback graph, we'll be able to help

Regards

Graphedit can't see audio either...
All I see there is: Intput File -> Matroska splitter -> XviD MPeg4 Video Decoder -> Video Renderer

P.S. MKV file was produced by VDubMod 1.5.10.1 (latest build from SF). I know I can use other tools, but that's what GK uses atm...

OK, and the reason was - I didn't have audio at all there :)

The other day I managed to solve long running problem with opening XviD files in GK. So expect a fix after New Year (still no luck with mjpeg/huffyuv files though - looks like it can't be done using windows AVI library but only DShow).

-All of the settings when I installed were screwed up - all of the audio options in R4R were off by default. I fixed this right up, but I didn't really know what was going on at first. I also had to repoint-it to all of the programs it uses - everything was blank. While I was uninstalling, did I hit something that erased the settings?

-When I did an Xvid compressibility check in GKnot, the results failed to show up in the box (next to the load button). This happened three times yesterday. I just did one now, and it worked fine...what's up with that?

Thanks,
Eli B.

Using latest gk (.33.2) I get an error when trying to encode any video. The error is:

EXCEPTION: Access violation at address 00404E4D in module 'GordianKnot.exe'. Read of address 656C691E

then it quits encoding. Dunno if its just me or somethings messed up or what. Any help?

feiner
21st January 2005, 13:47
Yeah it worked fine. Now .2 is working though it messed up quite a few times then it just quit doing it and worked fine after trying a while. As far as I know I didn't change any settings between times running it either they all shoulda been the same. Well if it happens again I'll note everything and send ya any information you need. Thanks.

What is the current limitation for queues in the new 0.33.2?

The 0.28.8 version used to give me problems with more than 8 files for encoding in queue.

I don't remember but it should be much higher than 8...

sorry for my ignorance but does the new gk save the queue jobs list?
i use 33.1 and although i have some jobs queued in the job list the save button is always disabled..if i am not mistaken isnt this button supposed to save the job list?or its fuction is something else?and the same happens with the up/down buttons-they are always disabled and i have to disable/enable the queued jobs in the order i want to run them
anyway just some questions thanx

len0x
3rd February 2005, 18:08
You have to setect a job in the queue list (large area on the right) and not in the job list on the left. Then Up/Down/Delete/Save functions will be available.

<<<Why don't you feed WAV file directly to GK as a part of a job?>>>

You mean gk can automaticly encode the wav of the avi?so that i dont have to manualy extract and encode it from the avi with vdmod?if so how?

len0x
22nd February 2005, 18:40
Everything that doesn't have .mp3 extention can be dealt with the same way as ac3 i.e. transcoded (besweet will automatically do the rest)

OMINUS
22nd February 2005, 22:18
but again i have to extract the wav from the avi in order to encode it with gk....
isnt there a way to encode the audio while gk encodes the video?
i mean with vdmod u pick full process for both audio/video you set the settings and you encode the avi into xvid with both video/audio encoded
