View Full Version : INVERTED CONVERSION file and Audio sync problems??

Hi, I have 2 questions, if I may:

1. I have tried to convert an Xvid file to an MPEG1 file using a couple of different conversion programmes, but when the conversion is complete the entire file/film is upside down. It seems perfect in every other way - sound and quality etc, but it plays in my PC in an inverted manner.
Will it revert back if I burn it to a DVD, or do I have to convert it in some other manner, please?
I have tried a simple programme - DVD Santa - then my Eo Joiner/Converter, which normally makes a perfect job first time. My original file plays normally, but is too big to squeeze onto a VCD, hence my attempts to make it into a DVD.

2. When I attempt to convert other files/videos of mine I regularly finish up with the audio in front of the video, despite having a perfect avi original i.e. a copy of my holiday video. Mainconcept and TMPGenc are the converters I have tried to use. Why do they do this and can I correct this problem without having to convert te files first, look at them, time the delay and try to get another programme to correct the fault - which I really have had no real success at doing?

I really hope some expert here can help me sort these 2 problems out, they are driving me insane!
Best wishes, V

This is a short Tutorial for converting Divx/Xvid file to DVD format.

Divx/Xvids are .avi files

First I loaded all the codecs from the ACE Mega pack.(be sure and load all the divx/xvid codecs)

Then I took the AVI called Zebra Lounge (Wife Swapping movie) and used WinAVI to convert it to DVD format (1hr 20 minutes).

Now I used Copy2DVD to burn it. (since the files that winavi made are on the hard drive in DVD format.

Then I burnt it onto a DVDrw (15 minutes at 4x).

Tested it in my Mintec and Apex Players to verify that it encoded correctly.
(it did).

Now I burn it onto a regular DVD-R and put a Label on and I am done. (another 15 minutes).

Total time= 1hr 50 minutes.

hi... pls see here (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=87095) for my elaborations on WinAvi...

in addition, pls do not use codec packs. in general they do more harm than good. you should always make sure that you have as few codecs installed as possible. also codec packs tend to stick in your system no matter what you do. it is notoriously hard to remove them and in some cases not at all possible.

for your conversion needs. pls take a close look at DVD2SVCD. unline the name suggests you can do AVI2(s)VCD or AVI2DVD conversions too. and since you have TmpegEnc anyway, i think it would be THE way to go. for a good guide, see here (http://www.doom9.org/mpg/dvd2svcd-avi.htm)
