ATI TV Wonder USB 2 - Player unable to initialize

I installed the ATI drivers and MMC 9.0.3 for the ATI TV USB 2 on a new e-machine desktop PC, Athlon XP 2600 512 MB RAM, S3 ProSavageDDR video board. Whenever I tried to acess the TV player using the ATI software, I would get an error and a request to check my PC (the diagnostic checks are successful). The error says "The TV player is unable to initialize the video driver." So I checked the device manager as requested but everything is installed successfully. I went throught he ATI web site and viewed all thier posted FAQs and troubleshooting hints. No luck.

The ATI drivers are WDM drivers and can be accessed by other apps.
I managed to view/play the TV tuner by using Ulead Photo explorer, so I know I can access the ATI Tuner device, but if I attempt to capture, I get a message "Failed to build a preview graph" and I have to exit the module.

Then I tried Windows Media Encoder, capturing to a file, it gave this error: "No specified device driver is present" and I couldn't view the TV. VirtualDub can also display the cable TV but not capture.

How can I get the ATI device driver to work? I removed most of the startup programs with msconfig. The driver files are installed in the same loations as my other pc too. It works on my other (slower) machine and I captured 20 min of 8mm tape with it.

Any ideas why this is happening? or how to fix it?

After 3 weeks of pursuing this problem, I treied adding a PCI video card (NVDIA MX 200) and I disabled the video driver of the S3 onboard graphics adapter of the eMAchines T2615 PC. Simply adding the new card was not enough.. the S3 driver had to be disabled. Now everything works and teh quality of the video is great. I may later switch to a AGP card to improve performance.
