When did DVDshrink include it's own built-in decryption algorithm for CSS encrypted DVD's? I always thought you had to use the ANYDVD program do decrypt on the fly? or use DVDdecrypter.

Shrink has had it's own decryption sinc the very first 1.02 version 18 months ago.
I only use AnyDVD with Shrink when I want to do Region 1 discs in my Region 2 drive.

version 1.03 and before used a GPL decryption algorithm thus it had to be removed and dvdshrink developed his own decryption algorithm.
Version 1.04 - 21 April 2003
Removed libdvdcss because of GNU licensing issues.
Current decryption module only supports Win NT/2K/XP.

How can the DVDshrink decryption be enabled? I tried to backup one of my encrypted DVDs and it wouldn't let me - ended up using DVD43 to kill the CSS.
If the feature exists, I'd love to use it!

The decryption is not enabled bur on all the time. It automatically decrypts on the fly as it backs up the disc/analyses the disc.
However, it has been known that software such as DVD Decrypter or other software with better decryption is needed. I sometimes use AnyDVD but, this is very rare.
If you are getting a copy protection error, try disabling nero in the preferences. DVD43/AnyDVD with Shrink will work with that error.
