I believe that KiSS made one more failure then I can tolarate with resent DP-1000 with Toshiba TREATMENT .

I am keeping track for KiSS almost 3 years now and they have their positive moments but lately it's more and more negative ones.

I was hoping that after Hi-Jack visit KiSS was ready for "fresh start" and was more then willing to give them benifit of the daubt (once again).

But KiSS release of "very very good tested" DP-1000 2.9.0 firmware and mostly their aproach afterwards made it clear that KiSS is just .. KiSS , nothing changed.

So just want everyone know few simple things about KiSS players :

1. They are old.
2. They are buggy.
3. They are overpriced.
4. Last year they did not listened to customers.

If you want a good player and networking is not required - just get Philips.

If you want networked player wait another couple of months for IO-Data player and couple of simular to be released in Europe .

If you want recorder with network ... I don't know here is DP-558 the only option but featurewise it's not that good.

P.S.: I know I will see here replyes from people saying they happy with their players but from my expirience 99% of them can be "sorted" to two categories : 1) People who spend a lot of their money on player that behaves worce then cheap "junk" players and wan't feel goofed.
2) People that will change their clame after another month or two of use

Personally speaking I don't think it's all Kiss Technologies fault. I reckon much has to do with Sigma's total lack of customer service!

I've made no secret that I'm an Sigma Xcard user and I like the quality of the images it produces very much. However, despite constant requests by myself and other Xcard owner/users, it's been one year (as of yesterday) since Sigma released revised software!

If Sigma are not willing to take any notice of their direct sale customers, it's likely to assume they're not taking much notice of their "development kit" buyers and/or "licensed development kit builders" as well.

God knows what Sigma does with their time... but it sure doesn't feel like it's spent looking after their customers!

Cheers

That is not true, its not about the chip its about quality product. I owned sigma-based LiteOn and it was a pleasure to have (although firmware upgrades were not frequent either, but it was a high quality product in the first place).

It would be interesting to learn how much involvement Sigma has with their chip-set/development kit customers - after initial purchase!

I do not know about Sigma , but I am more pissed with KiSS aproach .
They constantly promise thing they either can't do or can but it takes a year instead a months.
And the filling that they do not test their firmwares , otherwise at least 3 "canceled" (removed) firmware releases with obiouse problems would not happen.

Their new DP-558 is another bad joke - after a 4 months and 4 firmware releases it still does not have all the functionality described ion manual !
Not to mention the fact that they have Audio/Video out of sync. problem at about 1/4 of users that they "can't reproduce".

Then latest DP-1000 "thing" - they released a new firmware that literaly cause malfunction of all DP-1000 with Toshiba's DVD drives inside but they did not fixed it almost for a month now and did not even put a warning on their site !
And this happens on about 30% of DP-1000 players !
Now some destributors say that KiSS wan't fix it because "problem is rare" ... (sure just about 30% , it's less then half so "rare" ) .
