I need to find a way to compress my avi file down to fit on a dvd. The file size of the avi is about 7.1 gigs and 35 minutes long. I don't know why the file is so large, I took it straight from my camera through Adobe Premiere Pro. Sorry if this has been posted before or is in the wrong place. Thanks for the help.

One main question:
Are you trying to burn the AVI file to DVD for storage or for playback on a DVD Player?

If it's just for storage, then that's easy, as you just download a program called VirtualDub and a codec like DivX and recompress the video to a smaller size.

If it's for DVD playback, then you should start looking/searching for applications and guides that take you through the steps of AVI->DVD conversion.

Cheers,
-Nic

ps
When ever posting questions, always try to post as much information as possible. For example, is the AVI a DV File? (If so, then this might help http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=60392 along with the whole of the DV forum)

(This thread probably belongs more in the Newbie Section)

Thanks Nic. That helps a lot. And yes, the newbie section probably would have been better. :)
