Hi, I've tried to find answers to my problems throughout this awesome website, but I just can't find everything.

What I'm trying to do is rip a DVD, convert the VOBs to AVIs, and then edit the AVIs in adobe premier.

I can rip the DVD just fin with DVDDecrypter, but I am having trouble getting a movie file under around 7 gigs that is still high quality. I've tried DVD2AVI, and VirtualDubMod - but VDM has white speckles in the dark areas of the film, and DVD2AVI doesn't export right for some reason.

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated,

Thankyou

hi and welcome to the forum,

honestly instead of decoding the vobs to avi, i'd recommend you try the frameserving approach, either with vfapi or with avisynth/ffdshow

http://www.doom9.org/mpg/d2a-mpeg2dec.htm - avisynth
http://www.doom9.org/mpg/vfapi_reader_codec.htm - vfapi

if you really want to get a real avi (for whatever reasons you might have) i would recommend you to use the avisynth frameserving approach to encode the dvd content to huffyuv (be careful huge filesizes!)
