View Full Version : Wrong BMP size using SubRip

I'm using SubRip to extract menu subpictures and importing them into DVD-Lab, but when I try DVD-Lab says it has a invalid size.

A file viewer says that extracted ones are 720x574 instead 720x576 (I'm in a PAL zone), so there are two lines missed (in the top).

If I resize them to 720x576 colors in edges are "blurred" and buttons does not look well.

Are there any prog other than SubRip able to extract menu subpictures in its correct size?

Does DVD-Lab accept the resized images? It shouldn't, as the max size for PAL subs is 720x573. And it is OK to be smaller vertically (you just have to specify the alignment).

If SubRip made the bmp 720x574, that is probably what was in the original DVD. And while that technically is non-spec (the one extra line), I've heard of it being done.

Yes, in fact it only accept 720x576 and 720x480 as menu subpictures, but it accept the subtitle BMP's that also are 720x574.

Sounds like a bug in DVD-Lab.
In the meantime to fix it instead of resizing, just add two lines of background color. Most graphics editors allow this. In PSP (my main tool for years) you first use the eye-dropper to set the background color, do an "enlarge canvas" to the new size, and save.

Buh... there are an option in SubRip to set the size of BMP :(

Problem solved, Thanks a lot :)
