Been on holiday for a couple of weeks so I came back and was happy to find 0.68 and 0.69 had been released while I was away. 'Great' I thought and cranked up 0.69 on Clueless (PAL) - very simple disc, only 3 VTSs:
1) Main movie
2) 10 seconds of nothing
3) 2 trailers for the movie
No angles, nothing fancy so I was very surprised to find that the VIDEO_TS folder it made was oversized - 4.41GB (4,742,797,312 bytes). I have never had this problem before with any previous versions or discs.
I have closed and re-opened DVD-RB since this was done but haven't used it again yet so as long as settings are saved between sessions I can tell you that "Steal space from extras" is disabled (I seem to remember this being a problem with oversized outputs in older versions)
Any idea why this happened? I haven't deleted the original ISO or output from DVD-RB so can supply any IFO files etc if it'll help.

Do you have a TargetSectors or CCETargetSectors setting in your rebuilder.ini file?
Size control is not an exact science, so some oscilation is expected.
The default setting for RB (around 2236000 sectors)results in an output of around 4.32 GB, but can go up to 4.34, still below the DVD5 limit.
But if you have set the TargetSectors closer to the limit, there is a risk of small oversizing (I use 2260000 wich results in 4.35 GB, but sometimes goes above 4700000 bytes, which plus burning overheads results in a bad burns)
For your case, I would recommend to use Shrink to compress the RB output: Set the movie to No Compression and compress just the menus (which were not compressed) and, if necessary, the extras

No, no "TargetSectors" or "CCETargetSectors" in the *.ini file. Never heard of this setting and have never had to change it before.
Size control might not be an exact science but I've been using DVD-RB since the project first began and and have never had an oversized output before so I'm assuming something has changed since 0.67 that has caused this. It would make more sense if the original ISO was huge but its only 5.5GB so something has obviously been calculated incorrectly somewhere.
Yes, I have used elby's CloneDVD to shave that extra 40MB off.

Hi idbirch2 ! :)
From your first post: Any idea why this happened? From your second: Yes, I have used elby's CloneDVD to shave that extra 40MB off. It seems to me you answed to yourself about this oversizing question... ;)
I suggest two small "tests" in order to verify that the way you have adopted for customizing your title is the origin of your troubles:
1. Repeat the whole rebuilding process, without applying any cut. I am very confident you will get a backup fitting the DVD5 limit.
2. Give a try to VobBlanker by Jsoto for performing the same preliminar cleanup of your DVD [It is a nice application which is especially careful about the proper way of removing contents]. Even in this case I guess you will get in general good results...
Cheers,
SD
Edit: of course, totally sharing what suggested by pg55555, if you feel you have no time or no need to redo the whole process...
