What computer do you have? Pentium 1 133mhz :)
Just kidding... hope you don't get mad :)
Now serious... what kind of computer do you use... if you want some help you need to be more specific:
If you have a Pentium 4 3.4Ghz then there's something wrong with it...
If you got a 286 processor then I'll have to ask... how did you managed to do it at all ?!?!?!?
See what I mean?
keep it UP

Any way... I don't think that it would take that much time... there must be something really wrong with your computer... fragmented hdd?!?! too much processes running at the same time?!?!? how much memory do you got? What's your memory type DDR?

also if settings such as hi quality and trellis are used they slow down the process a great deal. still 3 days seems a wee tad excessive to me. :)

takes me 28 hours on a p3 1ghz, 1.5gb ram doing a 1+4 cce pass, no filters
however i have all seperate 7200rpm 8mb chace ata100/133 drives with read, working, and final directories all on seperate vhannels (not just seperate drives). 1 on primary, 1 on secondary, 1 on pc133 pci card. This makes a huge difference in speed for me, otherwise it might take 3 days for me as well.

It's not excessive only for u dragongodz. I've notice I've checked: "High Quality Mode" . I think this one might hav slowned down my pc that far.
But anyway confering to this:

this Encoder is really slow. I don't hav the newest configuration I know but compraring to the encoding time with Xvid/DivX there still no need in my eyes to backup dvd 2 dvd
My Config:
AMD Athlon 900MHZ
384 SDRAM
3 HDD {20GB and 40GB @5400 RPM, 160GB @7200 RPM 8MB cache}
DVD+-R(from NEC)
and so on...

actually without settings such as HiQ and trellis its quite fast. ok not as fast as say CCE but its still not bad. then again your cpu isnt exactly the fastest either so what do you expect ?

then dont. if the only reason you want to backup dvd to dvd is time then just use dvdshrink or such which will take you less time than divx/xvid. you should only be backing up to a particular format if that is the format that you are going to use to watch it from. most people backup dvd to dvd because that way they can just put it in their dvd player and watch it no hassles. yes there are divx players aswell but not everyone wants or needs to pay extra for one.

I Was not expecting a wonder with my cpu, neither that it would take so long. All I wanted to know is how fast this encoder is, where quality an other important factor for me is(c the options I choosed).

The "MPEG-Technologie" moves too fast for those kind of players(like always). An elegant solution(the way I c it) would a Barebone-PC.
PS: If smbody has a link with a comparison of encoding with diff. encoder please just send. thx
