Hello everyone,

Sorry for the pretty simple question but I have some video which I need to convert to a streaming format(both Real and WMV). Unfortunately the only copy of it is in MPEG so I was looking for the best way to reduce all the nasty MPEG blocking before I re-encode it. I've had a look at some virtualdub smoothing filters just wondering if there was anything else I should look at?

Thanks for the help!

Ideally, the same post-processing filters that are applied to MPEG-4/WMV9 can be applied to MPEG-2.

Take a look at AviSynth and SmoothD or use ffdshow's SPP post processing filter via the ffdshow plugin for AviSynth, that does wonders on really blocky MPEGs...

np: Autechre - Eggshell (Incunabula)
