No logfile, no indication of settings, nothing!

A couple of things to try for starters:

Try the trick with Virtual Dub in the "AVI2xxx fails at some point" sticky.

If that still fails, try changing audio extraction mode (if using "Internal" use "VFW" and vice versa.
