Hi All,
IF I want to get the best quality - regardless of the time it will take to process - does the next settings represent the best I can define?
Also - is there a way to "reset" the InstantCopy database for DVD's? It seems the minute it do an analysis for a DVD even if you change the scan configuration it does not re-scan the DVD.
Thank you all in advance!

try it and see.
also asking "whats best" is against the forum rules.
It seems the minute it do an analysis for a DVD even if you change the scan configuration it does not re-scan the DVD.
obviously it is storing the analysis data. i would think either in its own folder or in a settings folder. look to see if any files change or new ones generated after an analysis.

About "against forum rules" - It's not a novice question - it's really trying to get the best results based on parameter analysis - if analyzing 100 x 2.5 mb blocks is better then 20 x 2.5 blocks then I am sure a lot of people will want to know about it - and if someone already checked it then it's worth sharing.

I cannot imagine that asking what's best in terms of configuring a product is against the rules... surely that rule is meant in relation to other products!?

to quote rule 12
Do not ask "what's best" because this question cannot be answered objectively. Each and everyone has their own view about what's best in a certain area. The best is what works best for you!
and to quote what was asked

i would say asking if these settings will give the best quality definatly IS against that rule. why ? because 1 person can say "no this setting should be this" while someone else can say "no it should be that".
if the question had been "will these settings be more reliable(less undersizing etc) than the defaults ?" that would have been different. because its easy to answer yes they probably will to that based on peoples reports that a higher DVDAnalyzeMinAbs(for example) gave less undersizing. saying they are the "best" settings however is up to a person to decide for themselves.

In my opinion, Use Instant copy hidden registry editor it makes things a whole lot easier. To get the best result hit recommend, this will just increase DVDAnalyzeMaxRel to 15% the amount of video in percent that get gets analyzed and DVDAnalyzeMinAbs is the mimimum video analyzed. This will just analyze more of the video in the quality testing phase. By doings this its testing more of the video to better distribute the bits in more needing error. But remember too much is not always a good thing i just say use recommended. Then to tweak the size of the DVD for maximum use of the media set the DVDDestSize to about 100megs over because IC8 always undersizes i've never got a accurate encode. Usually you'll get under the 4.31gigs by doing this, more often then not. If you really want you'll know how much you are off by the first encode just reset it to what you where off if it was over or under just add or minus the difference. For example the first encode is say 4.28gigs (thats not it was setted too). Just take the original setting and add .3gigs. Hope this helps but remember this all just a opinion

One last thing i forgot to say is IC8 is the best for quality anyone who else says otherwise don't believe them (DVDshrink is crap). oh ya CCE is the best but thats complicated. Remember this is just a opinion :)

I just backed up my Aladdin disc (after working with DVD RemakePro to reduce the original size of 7.5GB into 5.5 GB).
OK, so I had to run the transcoding twice because of prediction error (too big) but other then that the quality simply is amazingly good with those parameters (vs. InstantCopy 3).

If I remember well, you got already a thread closed (see here (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=84445)) because the same thing you said before.
Other people have another opinion, please, respect that.
Greetings! :)
