Hi everyone
I'm always express my gratitude to koepi.
I have a question about XviD installer.
I want to distribute this program on CD-ROM for my product.
So I want to offer XviD source file in CD-ROM.
I see the source file from XviD.org but I can't find source file
of installer script from koepi.org.
Would you give me a hint how to get an installer script.
Or installer script isn't applied to GPL so I don't have to offer installer script then it will be nice to me.
Anyone who know about GPL give me an advice.
If Koepi answer to me, It will be my glory. ;-)
Best regards.
Lee
PS) I hope that my poor english didn't make you hard to understand,

The code to the installer doesn't need to be distributed. Just the source off xvid.org is fine.

Thanks for your advice.
In fact, this is the answer what I want.
But I don't know why installer script doesn't need to be distributed.
If anyone ask me where is the source then I don't have an answer.
Would you mind to teach me the reason why just xvid.org source is fine?
Best regards.
Lee

XviD itself is GPL, but that doesn't cover the installer. Wonder what the licenses if any are for the other stuff included in the installer?

Look at it this way... the install script for xvid is different from the program which was used to generate it.
Its like disstributing a video file that is encoded in xvid. You aren't required to distribute the source to xvid with every video! You only have to distribute the source with the codec itself.
Likewise, the same would apply to the installer (if the installer that is used is even licensed under GPL). You don't have to distribute source to the installer with the programs which use the installer.
The installer on xvid isn't the installer itself... its merely the OUTPUT which the installer software CREATED.

Thanks Zarxrax
Your advice is very helpful to me.
I have another question.
Is it possible to distribute Koepi's installer with Xvid source code?
I sent e-mail to koepi but he didn't read it yet.
I want to know that I should have approval of Koepi.
I thought Koepi's installer is under GPL so approval process is unnecessary.
But now I want to know whether I need Koepi's approval or not.
If koepi don't approve to me about XviD installer distribution then I can't distribute it on CD-ROM?

You can always do your own installer. Koepi uses (at least with recent releases) Inno Setup.
What does the MPEG LA have to say about you distributing an MPEG4 encoder/decoder though?
