Hi, everybody.

It's been a while since I didn't visit the forums, and maybe this has already been asked, but there is so much to read, and I don't know how to perform this kind of search, and I'm not even sure of whitch forum is the right for this. So, I may be totally wrong, and wish to be excused if it is so.

So.

Would it be possible to perform audio encoding, frame-serving and ripping at the same time, provided a powerfull enough machine? It could be some time saving. Dunno.

Thanks

But in general, I don't think it would save you lots of time. Consider that if you want to encode both audio and video, while ripping at the same time, two actual rip passes would be needed. I don't know if this is possible, but if it would, then you'd probably put a lot of stress into your DVD reader.

If you release the ripping on the fly constraint, then it might be possible to encode the two streams simulteneously. (You'd probably need an HT processor or an SMP system to do that, in order for both processes to have enough resources and don't struggle each other for them).

But if you really had a powerful system, encoding everything linearly would not be too long anyway, and if you have a DVD writer (powerful system ;)), then you could just use DVD Shrink and get it done in less than half an hour. :)

Hello, r6d2, and thanks for your quick reply.

In fact, I thought about using the HD-ripped vobs, not the DVD-originals, while being written on the HD. Then, instead of encoding the video, I just thought about performing the DVD2AVI part. Indeed, it shouldn't save lots of time, but since it's more or less the way I do it when I put some SVCDs back to DVD, I just wondered...

Thanks
