View Full Version : Best software to capture frames in VOB or M2V video files?

I have been trying to compare different encodes vs. the original video image and have been using my DVD software player to capture the images for comparison. Needless to say trying to get the same frame each time for comparison is impossible that way.

So I was wondering what software program I can use to capture specific frames from VOB files and or M2V files for more accurate comparisons?

I was told Adobe Premiere Pro could do it but it is way way to expensive for my needs.

Thanks for any help

Try VirtualDubMod (http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/virtualdubmod/VirtualDubMod_1_5_10_1_All_inclusive.zip?download). Find the specific frame number, and you can either copy the image to the clipboard or snapshot to a file, from the Video pull down menu.

Hint:

To get correct chroma-upsampling in VDubMod...

Load the files via AviSynth with a "ConvertToRGB32" line !!!
