Now they seems to have a new release - Can people test it and post their results and thoughtS?

Thanks!!!

Guys, you are missing the point
It's not only to read, it's also to write ;-)

So I did a short test with a French movie. The results are mixed - this version is better in terms of control (For example - you can choose the level of compression per each chapter), but it still don't come close to InstantCopy when it comes to fast movement.

Still, it look way more polished then the previous version.

Impressive results, still not arriving to InstantCopy level.

Some artifacts in fast movement when quality = 5
When quality = 4 blockage is obvious

One Bug - one page menu disappeared (!!!!!) after compression. buttons were there, but you couldn't see the graphics.

Other then that - for those who look for a one-touch tool it feels nice. especially since you can define the level of quality for each chapter (And there goes the LOTR credits to the lowest level!)

Comments anyone?

Comments anyone?
just the obvious which you should have been able to guess yourself. nobody here really cares about intervideo dvdcopy. it has never challenged dvdshrink or instantcopy(or maybe even clonedvd 2) so i think unless something major changes, and it would have to be huge, nobody is going to waste their time testing it. :)

dragongodz -
First, Intervideo DVD Copy is a good software.
I think everyone are still "stuck" with their "own" backup method they fail to see the majority of the population will go to the "click-n-go" solutions. And in this arena, Intervideo DVD Copy does provide good quality.

Good? Fair? Perfect? It's really a matter of testing. In the transcoder's arena I think it will earn a good 8 out of 10 (When InstantCopy is still alone at the 10).

used version 3 plat for the following movies, Dodge Ball, I-Robot, Manchurian Candidate, for movie only, written on Benq DD1620 with Prodisc printable 4X DVD+R. All came play without any stuttering, blocking, or other unsatisfactory side effects.

I believe it is faster than DVDClone2, Nero and will now be using it for all my backup needs until I find something better.

why would anybudy "pay" to test software that may or may not be better than what they curently use ?

people that use one click solutions (myself included)don't want to wast time or money testing more software that really can't make that big of a diffrents in quality or time!

so don't expect to see a lot of people paying for a program to help you test a one click solution.

and you are right we are "stuck" on our "own" backup solutions.

That's why you can trial the software...

And based on what you see here, poeple will waste huge amount of time trying to improve 1% of their backup solution - and for good reasons.

I had a play with the trial a while back and I wasn't impressed to say the least. From what I can recall it's not exactly user friendly as it was clumsy to do basic stuff. The 5 levels of quality it offers is rather limiting :scared: and aren't really that exact. You can't do anything with the menu's either apart from a movie only option

it's gone backwards by the looks of things. Take a normal DVD with a few extras and soundtracks. It would take a few minutes to customise the DVD with DVDShrink but with DVDCopy3 it's just a nightmare! :scared:

I won't step into the quality issue but I will comment on the limitations when compared to DVDShrink's. Limiting the distribution of quality will have an effect on the overall quality of the backup in my eyes

big thumbs down from me :(

It cant do anime worth a damn in my experience. I got multi colored blockies all over the place when trying to encode ANY anime.. The quality comes nowhere near Shrink which is number one in my opinion. IC gives way to soft of an output for my tastes.

But DVD-RB coupled with CCE SP is still the best quality solution IMO.

Intervideo DVD Copy 4 came out now, I just want to know how this program does with long movies like Pearl Harbor, Lord Of The Rings, Scarface, 2 to 3 hours movies

Isn't this a violation of some forum rules: blatantly advertising some commercial software? Maybe even some programmer in disguise?

wow, thats some conspiracy theory Chetwood!

personally, my theory is that ElBoricua433 is perhaps a little too lazy to download the trial and run a few tests for themselves ;).

Why not stick to speaking for yourself?

Can DVDShrink reauthor episodic DVDs, split them to separate discs, titles only, plus a simple menu, the way DVD Copy can? If so I'm all ears as to how it's done. Using DVD Copy's "merge" function I can back up half of an episodic DVD from a DVD-9 to a DVD-5 along with a simple menu; I hate using DVD Shrink for this because a) I generally hate episodic DVD menus and b) I hate them more when they're butchered with half the titles being replaced clumsily with "this title has been replaced by DVD Shrink" or whatever that message is.

Sure, I can use DVD-Lab to make fancy menus for my episodic DVDs, but I have a life outside DVD authoring.

I love DVD Shrink, but DVD Copy does things DVD Shrink can't. Also, the last word I heard (from this site, though a while back I admit) was that DVD Copy's compression was superior to any easy solution, including DVD Shrink.

I love DVD Shrink, but DVD Copy does things DVD Shrink can't. Also, the last word I heard (from this site, though a while back I admit) was that DVD Copy's compression was superior to any easy solution, including DVD Shrink.I doubt you read that here, although there was a thread about the tests done at dvd.box.sk nearly 2 years ago in this thread (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=70146), the consensus was that the testing procedure was flawed and possibly rigged, also they were using mostly old versions of software (DVDShrink v1.2 for example).

About 6 months ago, colemar posted very detailed professionally presented and technical test results for what he claimed to be an objective 1-Click-DVD-backup comparison (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=91319) which was of course, quite controversial. The testing methodology became the center of attention rather than the test results, but you might note that Intervideo DVD Copy 3 scored the lowest marks in the test, Nero Recode 2.2.6.9 scored the highest.

The only true objective test results that I've seen published here were in Fishman0919's thread Blind Test - DVD-RB vs other one clicks (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=91418) which BTW, didn't even include Intervideo DVD Copy in the comparisons. Not surprisingly, in his 'blind tests' the random, unbiased participants consistently rated the DVD-RB w CCE copy superior to those made by DVDShrink 3.2 & Instantcopy 8.

As a side note, I've downloaded Intervideo DVD Copy4 and plan to do some testing to satisfy my own curiosity. My only comment thus far is that it better be good considering the package is about 50 times larger than DVDShrink! I haven't installed it yet so have no clue as to why a DVD copy program would need to be a 50 MB download.

I don't see no point in merging episodic discs. You can put 3 or 6 of them as seperate titles and use PgcEdit's macro to use the title button to jump to the next ep. Inside an ep you can still navigate back and forth with the next/previous key. No need to make one big lump out of it.

And if you happen to have some time on your hands you can import your self-made menu as explained in my guide (http://www.dvdshrink.info/chetwood/PgcEdit_menuimport.php).

BTW, you can always replace that 'clumsy' message with a black screen or blank the tiltle completely with Vobblanker. So apparently DVD Shrink can do less than DVD Copy but I'm not willing to pay for especially not as the quality is not better.

Why not stick to speaking for yourself?
me speak for you ? never. i would not DARE to speak for one who so highly contributes to this community. i would go and throw myself on a sword if i ever did such a terrible thing. :sly:
EVERYONE ELSE - will no doubt realise i was making an observation based on the fact that nobody was taking undercover_dancer's challenge(?) to do tests with the newer versions of dvdcopy and the probable reasons why.

the last word I heard (from this site, though a while back I admit) was that DVD Copy's compression was superior to any easy solution, including DVD Shrink.
I doubt you read that here, although there was a thread about the tests done at dvd.box.sk nearly 2 years ago
yes i was going to ask where this "word" was to be found on here. there is actually 2 threads about it but i wont give the link to the second since some people should obviously learn to :search: first.
also since that time dvdshrink 3.2 was released with AEC to improve quality. plus we also have an encoder based solution in DVD_Rebuilder. also some people also may encode etc by hand(if you follow).

so what i said i still stand behind, with a minor change to please some(?) people.
"i think unless something major changes, and it would have to be huge, IMHO the majority of people on here are unlikely to waste their time testing it."

anyone willing to do a bunch of tests with the latest versions with multiple source at multiple compression levels etc is cordially invited to do so and to please post their findings so others may analyse their findings.

everyone happy now ?

Just snagged the trial and going to give it a go on a few discs but I'm very skeptical. This has got to be the most "dumbed down" software I ever seen. I mean I see like no options for much of anything.

I hoped their quality will improve but i think it will still stay a package for "dumb" users with DVD writer, PSP and mobile phone that supports video.

I will keep my personal shrink vs. pinnacle fight
