What is the best
i want the best
i just want the best
heres an idea....:readrule:

also there are plenty of posts here saying peoples opinions on different programs. maybe spending some time reading the posts and trying the programs(when possible) will help you decide. then if you have any problems or specific questions people may be able to help you.

There is only one way: An 1:1 copy, where you just copy, without making any change at all.

For this, use DVD Decrypter (www.dvddecrypter.com), and rip the source DVD in ISO mode. Then, using DVD Decrypter again, burn the created image to a DVD+R or DVD+R DL (depends if the original DVD is single layer or dual layer).

I would say instant copy 8 with the hidden setting editor to tweak it for maximum possible quality.

I like dvd shrink's output a little better than IC8. IC8 seems to blur edges and everything seems way too soft. BUt for really stubborn dvd's sometimes IC8 is all that will work. But for like 99% of all movies shrink should be ok if you dont mind getting rid of pretty much everything including uneeded audio streams. However if you plan on backing up any tv series or mini series where the whole 8gb is taken up by main movie video and there are no extras or audio streams to get rid of you NEED either CCE or Procoder. Nothing else will give acceptable quality. At least for me anyways.

Folks, I don't know how you got these strange ideas about procoder, dvd shrink etc.

He doesn't care about the price, and he want the best quality. And there is no other way than just leave the video untouched. And if it's bigger than 4.37 GB, then use DVD+R DL. Period. Everything else is just not adequate.

Every encoder, no matter if it's CCE, ProCoder, whatever, every, without exeption, every Encoder will produce a worse result. That's just a fact.

you NEED either CCE or Procoder

Wrong. You need to google for DVD+R DL. . .

What does this say to you? To me (the line about removing the extras gives it away) this quote says that I want the best program out there that will take a dvd and fit it to a dvd-5 dvd-r disc and I dont care how much it will cost. The PROGRAM... thats how i read it anyways. There is a big difference between spending a hundred or even a couple hundred dollars on a program and spending like 8 dollars a disc for DL media. That get really expensive really fast. Also he asked what programs do you recommend. That is pretty obvious to me. We are talking about getting the best quality for the lowest price possible. I think that is the goal of most here. If you have the money to waste on DL media right now go right ahead... but your rather rude reply to my helpful response was unappreciated.

Here's a crazy idea.

For the best backup, why not buy a second DVD of the same title? You did say price isn't an object of concern.

I use DvdFab and put most movies on 2 dvd's.
The quality is always the same as the original.
I know he said price wasn't a problem, but we all know price is always a problem.
