Hi all. I have an AC3 file that I stream processed, converted to WAV format, edited and converted back to AC3 format. Now, I need to put the this edited AC3 stream back into the original VOB file. How can I do this? I've been reasearching but can't seem to find the answer. Can someone recommend a program ,direct me to a previous post or guide or explain how to do it? Thanks in advance.

What program are you using to author the dvd? Normally I leave it `til I author a dvd using TMPGEnc DVD Author, if you can strip the video out to an .m2v stream just load them both up into DVD author and it`ll mix it for you (1.6 on), you can then just burn the DVD or use the Vobs it outputs.

Well heres what I did: I decrypted(using DVD Decrypter) just the one VOB file I knew contained the AC3 stream I wanted to edit. Then, I used VobEdit to demux the VOB file but I just chose to demux the AC3 stream. So I did all the converting to WAV, editing and saving again to the AC3 format. None of the programs I have remux just the AC3 file back into the original VOB file. Are you saying "DVD author" does this? Or will I have to demux the video as well and then remux everything?

You`ll have to demux the video too, then remux them both in DVD Author, but if you need the vobs as they were originally this may be a problem (as Author has created new vobs) , if you just want to re-author these vobs only to a new dvd then this will work (can do it with or without menus).

If you want to insert the modifed vobs back into tho original DVD structure this won`t solve your problem, but if you just want to make a new disk with the film and modded audio DVD Author will do the trick.

Edit, you may be able to load the vobs in and the ac3 track in the Audio input section?

Thanks for the replies. I had a bit of trouble understanding your explanation. Please forgive my newbieness. I have a movie I want to backup but I am editing some audio. If I understand you correctly your saying I have to demux the video and audio and then create a new VOB. But, your also saying I can't put this new VOB in the original title set with the other 3 (unedited) original VOBs of the movie because I will have structure/navigation problems? Hmm... What if I just demux and remux all 4 VOBs in the title set and then use IfoEdit to create new Ifos. Will this work?

P.S. Doing it this way will I be able to keep menus and chapters?

I think it depends on how big the vobs are (size in kb), if the originals are the same size as the ones Dvd Author outputs (1,048,404 kb or 0.99 GB) you should be able to swap the modifed ones for the originals, if not you`ll hit problems.

I`ve never used anything else to remux vobs to be honest, another option is to demux the menues and use these in DVD author as well (it supports motion menus) but there may be too much work involved with that?

What are you doing with the audio, swapping for another language or just editing it?

I was thinking same thing in regards to the VOB size. I think I will try it both ways. Demuxing everything in just the 1 VOB I want to mod the audio and then remuxing everything back in. If that doesn't work I'll just demux all 4 VOBs then remux and create new IFOs with IFOedit. DVDAuthor isn't freeware is it? In regards to menus maybe I can still use them if not i'll leave em out. In regards to the audio I'm just editing some words and stuff. The size of the AC3 will be the same. I'll post my results. Thanks.

I don't mean to hijack keithmac's method, but this (http://www.videohelp.com/forum/userguides/197950.php) guide explains a way to author with ifoedit. I haven't tried it but it may be worth looking into. I realize it deals mainly with subs, but see the method he uses to reauthor with the original menus.
