I searched alot with this topic in this forum, and I found a few avisynth scripts that did the job "ok" .. But im not after an "ok" job, im after a good result.

Jerky encodes and not really something I would like to save. So I did what I belived was the best thing. I work with Sony Vegas Pro, now version 5, and I setup a project with PAL settings. Insert the NTSC video, keep aspect ratio and render the file to PAL.

My files are dvd standard, so ofcourse I save as PAL dvd standard.
My result is way better than ProCoder and these avisynth scripts. The coding time is perhaps longer, but not with hours, perhaps min or such, but finished result is way better.

Something to think about, but ofcourse Vegas isnt a freeware, but ProCoder isnt either, so chooseing between them isnt a hard thing if you compair the results.

Made this topic just to inform future searchers and others who want to make the conversation with the formats, PAL to NTSC isnt somethign I have tried, but nothing of intrest atm.

EDIT: Vegas uses MainConcept to code mpeg2 files, for those who dont know.

Well, did you investigate MVTools? And combining that with deinterlacers like TDeint?:

Learning how to use these tools properly (which is no easy task I agree) will probably enable you to get higher quality using AviSynth, as opposed to some of the traditional scripts that can be found posted around the forum.

Well my PAL to NTSC conversions are quick affairs (nothing that has to be perfect). But NeroVision Express 2 does a much better job than MainConcept for me.
