View Full Version : No audio in some PGC (multipgc processing)

Hi everybody,
i got a problem for most backup i did. It's not so important but it deserves a little attention. I'm sure this happened to other people and i read somewhere that the new release of DIF4U will correct this bug. Well, when demuxing by pgc and processing multipgc titles (ie : pgc1=film and pgc2=bonus or studio's logo), only the pgc film keeps the audio tracks intact whereas others pgcs have no audio at all after remuxing the project with Scenarist. I didn't remember if my backup made with RA have this prob but all the backups i did with ScenAid have. It happened with release like Nemo (Film+Bonus=same VTS) and all others which contains movie and some logos with audio in the same VTS.
I checked into Scenarist if the pgc2 is linked with the corresponding audio track and it seems correct.
So, is there a trick to avoid this ?
Thks

Well it seems the thread http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=85443 is related to my problem. I'll look closely to it.

Well the problem is that some dvds have a quite 'exotic'setup. While in scenarist this is not possible I came across dvds that have different audio setup through pgcs. FOr example different bitrates on the same audio position and pgcs that have more audio tracks than other pgcs.

So if you do not demux a pgcs with more audio tracks (because it's a duplicate one) you won't demux the audio. The pgc contains the audio of course but the ifo tells the demuxing program otherwise. SO there are multiple solutions for this:

1) The new dif4u versions will auto switch to vobid demuxing for these titles (for example finding nemo) and make all audio streams available.

2) Manually tweak the ifo before dumxing (making the missing audio available in the respectve ifos). Under PC_CITY

3) Convince some developers to alter the ifo parsing procedures, so that all audio is available (making method 2 obsolete) ;)

Me again influenza,
where can i get such a good guide refering to the tweak ifo file method plz ?
thks

EDIT : I tryed redo the process with "HP and the Philosopher's Stone" (there are some logo and trailer along the movie VTS). I demuxed by vobid but i got the same result. AC3 tracks which refers to logo and trailer are 0-byte files. I'm a little lost with the ifo edit method.

Have i to edit the VTS_PGCITI->VTS_PGC2 (the annoying one) in Ifoedit and double-click on "Audio stream 1 status" description to enter the same value as "Audio stream 3 status" (33280 in this case) ?
the "Audio stream 1 status" and "Audio streal 2 status" are empty.

You're in the correct spot. But you just make all layouts the same. So all stream values in all pgcs have to be the same.

This is happening to most of your backups? If so something else is wrong. the condition influenza refers to is on a very small minority of cds.

I would have had to say "i got a problem for most Warner Bros DVDs and some other movie like Nemo i did". It happened many times with this genre of discs to not say all the time (considering the few last backups i did).
