Hi,

I want to backup the DVD with all its menu and movie (even the TV serails which ahd different episodes in multi VOB files). I know D2S is not designed or at the moment capable of doing such thing atleat as of version 1.2.2 Build 3.

Even though I love D2S with D2SRoba for its quality and ease of use, I have to resort to other tools to do a full DVD backup.

I went ahead and tried the BIG 3 Tools (DIF4U, Scenaid, NuMenu, BacthCCEWS and Scenarist) to do the backup but I am not happy with the encoded quality. The encoding is done by BatchCCEWS.

What I want to do is perform the encode using Tylo's D2SRoba plugin as the encode is faster and much better. In doing so I have following questions:

1) BacthCCEWS takes a chapter list to mark chapters as part of the encode? Does D2SRoba does the same i.e. does it mark the chapter points as part of the encode by reading the chapter entries from somewhere?

2) Is there any thread/guide/information available on using D2SRoba with BIG 3 because I just love the D2SRoba quality and the encoding time combination?

Thanks for your help,
-Amit

I could be wrong but IIRC, jdobbs had added Q-predictive RoBa encoding to DVD Rebuilder.

It could be worth a look

Not D2SRoBa, but DVD2SVCD does it. In CD image tab, select DVD chapters. That's all.
BTW, I've noticed DVD2SVCD does it perfectly, let's say, it creates an ecl with these frame numbers, so the encoder is forced to output an I-frame at these points. After that, the authoring program can start a new cell (and chapter) exactly in these frame numbers.

Me too. Although Nick is right, may be you want to try other method (harder)
VobBlanker is able to replace in the original DVD the PGCs by new encoded ones. I do not have a guide, but more or less:
- Rip your DVD in file mode to your HD
- Open the DVD in Vobblanker.
- Select the extras you want to keep and blank the others.
- Select blank the main movie. See how many space will be consumed by the menus and extras you are going to keep.
- Don't process the DVD but save the VobBlanker project file.
- Start D2S+D2SRoba using an appropiated CD size
- Open VobBlanker project file.
- Change the main movie from blank to "replace" and replace it with the VOBs produced by D2S
- Hit Process!! in VobBlanker.

You're done

BTW you can also replace the extras you want with a low resolution previously reencoded ones (reencoded by D2S in OPV mode, i.e.)

Keep in mind the audio/subs index in the VOBs. They should be the same than the originals to keep the menu working fine. (mdvdauth plugin can do this for you)
